Oh, Hot Damn!
The University of the Philippines, the Premier State University. The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas. Both prestigious, both sought after, and both mine to choose from. I still can’t believe it.
You don’t know how much this means to me as a student. I’ve done well and had my niche on the honor roll all my life, but lately, I’ve been wondering if I truly deserve to be up there. I have thought for a while that, while I lead in my school, maybe I’m not such a hotshot compared to students from other schools. But passing both the UPCAT and the USTET changed my way of thinking, and I even feel like a changed person or something.
But I’m gonna miss UST. I’ll be going for UP because it’s more convenient for me, but I’ve gotten attached to UST. Maybe if the UPCAT results had come out first, I’d get attached to UP, too. Maybe this is for the best, though. My broadcasting idol since childhood, Mel Tiangco, graduated from UP. I’m still gonna have to wait for my report dates in UST to pass before I fully accept that this is the right choice. Maybe Ally Condie (author of Matched) and Lois Lowry (author of The Giver) were on to something when they hypothesized that having choices can be a bit of a burden. My mom keeps saying that I have the luxury of choosing, but I think I’m kinda with Ms. Condie and Ms. Lowry on this one.
Oh well. What am I thinking? I should be grateful for this. I could be a Tiger. I could be a Maroon. I could be whatever I want! It’s cool. :)
